I went out to the campus website to grab my email and found this posted on the front page:
Thursday, November 30: Due to inclement weather, campus is closed and all classes are canceled. For more detailed information about inclement weather closings visit the Inclement Weather Information Page.
I confirmed that with the District site - yep, we are closed!
And I went over to the one of the local TV stations and saw a bunch of closings on the bottom of the screen.
I guess we didn't check the right channels initially.
Anyway, I am going to crawl back into bed now and get the laptop set up so I can stay connected in the warmth.
Where is all the icy and snow and freezing rain predicted? Why are the roads somewhat clear so we have to go to work? What's going on? We want a snow day! We want a day to huddle under the covers with our honeys or pets or heating pads! We want a cold day so we can stay home and play with our toys!
I went around searching for some arthritis stuff for some family members asking about some stuff and thought my flist may find it interesting, too.
http://www.arthritis.org/resources/gettingstarted/default.asp has a little list of some of types. The kind I have (and it is not listed here) is a type of spondylitis. It is called Undifferentiated Spondyloarthropathy (USpA). (http://www.spondylitis.org/about/undif.aspx) While my spine is affected, I also have it in one heel, in my hips and lower back and throughout my ribcage. I can also feel it my arm ball joints in the front at the same level as and affecting my clavicle, but not in the back of the arm joint.
When I started looking at a list like this, I was able to point to lots of related problems I have been suffering with for years.
-Carpal tunnel syndrome -Costrochondritis (not on the list but related) -occasional inflamed bowel problems -Myofascial syndrome -Osteoporosis -Plantar fasciitis -Sacroiliitis -Sciatica (not on the list but related) -Tardy Ulna Palsy (not on the list but related)
Crockett has psoriatic arthritis, also known as psoriatic spondylitis.
The info I was expecting yesterday did not happen - this is crap. I didn't feel well (still don't) but went to the office anyway in hopes I would hear something and nothing happened. I think my officemate has had a cold for a week and I am hoping I am not going to get it. Maybe that Zicam is still working.
Today I have to get my permanent crown and drop another $200 on it - more crap. I bet the info comes while I am at the dentist.
And I need to start paying rat for my half of the SF trip soon - almost $700.
The fickle weather is really screwing with my sinuses.
Work is going to turn into even more hell next semester - oh joy...
I get home feeling drained at night and my body tries to pass out shortly after dinner. I have to lie down to rest my back every night and doesn't help keep me awake. rat is on medication that makes him sleepy so he falls asleep in his chair a lot after work. We cannot get much done when we are like this.
I am not looking forward to travelling to Abilene on Thursday. I think Shuichi will need to go with us to keep me entertained.
The wind came in strong and cold today. It was overcast and windy all day and at one point it rained. It was a gorgeous day.
Having some financial shit happening at the moment - I didn't get a bill and now I have been hit with a payment of almost $1000 and the interest rate jacked up to 32%. Pisses me off. This was the card I was keeping up with and had a lot of debt on to try and pay things off on one card. Now I have to start moving bits and pieces of it to other cards, then back to one card after a while when the interest rates go low again.
Looks like the rest of my Xmas shopping is not going to happen so most people will not be getting anything this year, unless I can craft some stuff from available supplies.
Other shit happening lately - not going to get into it right now.
As it says at the top of my lj: Real life is a bitch and that bitch has been having too many puppies lately...
Because rat's parents really shouldn't drive long distances anymore (they're in Abilene - about 3.5 - 4 hrs depending on how fast you go), it was decided by the sibs to go there for Thanksgiving. That holiday has always been for rat and I alone, with me doing my one big cooking day a year and I have always said if we don't cook that day, I won't cook anything big again. Well, I decided to compromise and said I would cook on Friday so we could go there. And we have to get back Thursday night because rat scheduled a service call with the washer/dryer guy to stop our dryer from sounding like something is trying to escape from it when it runs. (pound pound bang pow)
The digital camera sure has saved on processing fees.
Rat has started Final Fantasy 8. Squall looks like a girl when it goes into fight mode and it zooms in on him. We are used to seeing his Kingdom Hearts face - so it's funny. He doesn't look like that during the cut-scenes, but still - girly man!
We have watched the first five eps of Death Note and enjoyed it.
And a bit of good news - the Saiyuki pillbox showed up - stashed in the bag I took to the last doll meetup.
Dear Santa...
Dear Santa,
This year I've been busy!
Last Saturday I ruled Canada as a kind and benevolent dictator (700 points). Last Thursday I helped senoritafish see the light (8 points). Last Tuesday I didn't flush (-1 points). In January I caught a purse-snatcher who stole cyntigre's purse (30 points). In February I saved a busload of nuns in Angola (326 points).
Overall, I've been nice (1063 points). For Christmas I deserve All the Asian Ball-Jointed Dolls I have on my Wish List!
So, last year at animefest I ordered two little Gravi plushies and even gave the girls some s/h money.
I never got them.
Move ahead a year and I purchase two Gravi plushies at yaoicon. Shuichi carries them around with him all day and I even take pics of him holding the Eiri one up in the hotel room that evening.
After that, I don't remember seeing them ever again, and they definitely did not make it home with us.
I have called the Weston and they have no record of them in their lost and found book. I am going to try the lost and found email for yaoicon but I doubt that will turn up anything. I even looked up all the artists alley websites listed in the program but none of them were the artists at the plushie booth. I am going to post something on the ycon chat lj community, just in case.
I don't want to fool with trying to make any on my own - too much trouble to get supplies and stitch them together. Yes, I am lazy - if I can purchase it instead of me taking the time and making the effort to construct it, that's fine with me.
Your accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you're a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta.
Thanks: --> to Lia, my sensei, who has inspired me to draw again. I
wouldn't be doing this without your support, Domo Arigato!
--> to Talon, for sending me her fabulous fics, inspiring me with her writing to draw my first
illustration for a story and actually liking what I drew.
--> to Dasia, for her words of encouragement when drawing her original chara.
--> to Joules, a wonderful epic fic writer, for liking my art enough to want to post them with Talon's
and her own stories.
--> to Lutra, the other half of the epic team, for being so supportive.
--> to Jacque' & Becca Raddittzu, we met on eBay as bidder and sellers and now we are face-to-face
friends. You showed us the real DBZ with your fansubs. It's all your fault the house is full of
doujinshi! *LOL*
